We are thrilled to host an orchid introduction and repotting workshop with The Orchid Society of Southern California. Guided by Kevin Chen and JiaHao Peng, this event will commence with a lecture covering fundamental orchid knowledge, as well as tips and care instructions for nurturing orchids. Following the lecture, there will be a hands-on repotting workshop where we will demonstrate various potting mixes and proper orchid repotting techniques.

ABOUT THE HOSTS
Kevin Chen is a recent board member of the Orchid Society of Southern California but has been growing orchids for over eighteen years. His first orchid he cared for since the age of six is still alive today and he has recently begun to win national awards for his plants. Besides orchids, he also grows a variety of tropical plants ranging from neotropical blueberries, cycads, gesneriads, and more!

JiaHao Peng is a visual artist and plant enthusiast based in Los Angeles. As the founder of Ten Ten Photosynthesis, he is dedicated to not only designing and cultivating plants but also fostering a vibrant community for artists and plant aficionados alike.

WHAT’S INCLUDED
- Two moth orchids (Unbloomed) Ideally, we prefer not to repot blooming orchids since it can shock the plant.
- Potting mix including tree bark, spaghnum moss, and more.
- Orchid pots
- Lecture (Introduction to Orchids)
- Repotting and caring workshop

WHAT TO BRING
Just show up, learn about orchid, and take two plants home. We will have everything prepared for you. Feel free to bring your own orchids if you wish to repot them onsite or have questions regarding the species and how to care.

ABOUT OSSC
The Orchid Society of Southern California is the oldest orchid society in Southern California, founded in 1940. It is affiliated with the American Orchid Society, as well as Orchid Digest magazine, and the California Garden Clubs. The Society fosters and encourages the education of its members with respect to the culture, growing, hybridization, preservation, and perpetuation of native and hybrid orchids of every variety.
